Sub: General procedures and Guidelines governing “President’s Medal for Gallantry” & “Medal for Gallantry” and “President’s Medal for Distinguished Service” & “Medal for Meritorious Service” – reg.

Sir/Madam,

I am directed to refer to the subject cited above and to say the President’s Secretariat vide Notification Nos. 88-Pres/2023, 89-Pres/2023, 90-Pres/2023 and 91-Pres/2023 dated 14.10.2023 (copy enclosed) has notified the following :

1. Merging of four existing President’s Gallantry Medals ( for Police, Fire Service, Home Guard & Civil Defence and Correctional Service) in one Medal namely “President’s Medal for Gallantry” with immediate effect.
2. Merging of four existing Gallantry Medals ( for Police, Fire Service, Home Guard & Civil Defence and Correctional Service) in one Medal namely “Medal for Gallantry” with immediate effect.
3. Merging of four existing President’s Distinguished Service Medal ( for Police, Fire Service, Home Guard & Civil Defence and Correctional Service) in one Medal namely “President’s Medal for Distinguished Service” with immediate effect.
4. Merging of four exiting Meritorious Service Medal ( for Police, Fire Service, Home Guard & Civil Defence and Correctional Service) in one Medal namely “Medal for Meritorious Service” with immediate effect.

2. Notifications of above mentioned newly instituted four medals have also been notified vide President’s Secretariat’s Notification Nos. 84-Pres/2023, 85-Pres/2023, 86-Pres/2023 and 87-Pres/2023 dated 14.10.2023 (copy enclosed).

3. On the above context, bilingual (Hindi and English) Guidelines/SOPs of newly instituted “President’s Medal for Gallantry” & “Medal for Gallantry” (Combined Gallantry SOP) and “President’s Medal for Distinguished Service” & “Medal for Meritorious Service” (Combined Service SOP) are attached.
